LCD the abbreviation stands for Liquid crystal display. LCD is a thin, flat display device built up of several color or monochrome pixels displayed in-front of a light source or reflector. An industrial LCD monitor is a rugged display generally used with an industrial computer; however it can be used to display a video image from just about any video source.

LCD monitors are preferred over others as they have better resolution and sleek design. Nowadays there is a swiftly rising need to fit more into less space. As industrial LCD monitors are compactly built they can make remarkable difference in the places where space is a premium. There weight is far less in comparison to other monitors.  An industrial LCD monitor simply displays the video image generated by the computer like other LCD monitors the only difference being that they are more ruggedly packed. They are usually mounted in a steel or aluminum frame that permits it to be mounted in an equipment rack.  Nowadays industrial LCD monitors are available with a wide range of touch screen technologies, such as, resistive, capacitive and SAW. These added features enable the user to interact with the computer program by simply touching the display, and in some case, it completely eradicates the requirement of a keypad or keyboard as an input device.

However, in some instances, the packaging needs to be more extensive to resist the effects of harsh environment usually encountered in industrial and commercial related applications.
